Get to know what's happening!
what
is okgo?
okgo is the first desktop calendar to display event from
public social calendars using RSS.
The lack of a tool to collectively gather and present social events
information gave an opportunity to bind existing technologies togather
to create okgo. It started out as an effort to get a
consolidated view of events
happening in one city
What
does okgo look like?
Hope you like it!. Look here ->
How
to jump to events?
Click on the date in the calendar and the view should
automatically
display events if any. The dates for which events are created
are
already displayed in a different color
Event
does not show up!
Dont be surprised if you know that an event is happening in
your city
and it does not show up in okgo. okgo depends on the feeds that it has
been configured with.
Same
event more than
once!!!
Quite possible. If you more than one feed is
configured and both of them have the same event listed.
Where
is info coming
from?
okgo currently reads the RSS feeds provided by "upcoming.org"
and
"eventful" two of the most popular social event calendars. okgo can be
configured to read from any other RSS feed.
Should
I keep it running?
Not necessary. Just run it wheneever you want to find out whats
happening ;).
How
can new RSS feeds be
added?
Use the icons on the top bar to
add cities and manage feeds..
Is
it just an RSS
aggregator?
It is not intended to be. okgo does not write any information
from the
feeds into the local system. It presents the RSS feed as it is read.
System
requirements?
okgo is created using Java and some opensource java
libraries.
Hence a JRE (version 1.5 or above) is necessary. It
has
been tested on "xubuntu".
Where
to get latest JRE?
it
doesnt work :|
:) . Send me a mail at ko(at)okgo(dot)in with the details of the feed
that you are trying to use. I'll try and fix it.
But first ensure that the system requirements are met and you have the
necessary JRE installed in your system.
